Well, there has been much emailing, phoning, facebooking, googling, spreadsheets, currency exchange, online banking transfers and planning. AND a lot of watching the Aussie dollar plummet in value.
We have a confirmed 6 of us travelling to NYC in September to celebrate a year in which several of us turn 50.
We have purchased many bits and pieces - New York City passes, tours, accommodation, flights, transfers, concerts, Broadway shows, baseball tickets, walking tours, hop on hop off buses and probably more than that.
So we are less than a month away from departure and plans are bedding down.
One thing I have deduced is that I reckon as we visit the "city that never sleeps" that we are going to mirror that lack of sleep, to jam in all the things we each want to see.
So to fill you in....
Some time ago, Sandra and I were visiting my sister, to check out the new apartment she and family had bought. Sandra mentioned we should 'do' something to mark the occasion of our big FIVE OH! and suggested New York...so the journey began, it must have been at least 18months to two years ago.
Friends were advised and offers put 'out there.' The previous post was following our first 'trip meeting' in January 2015. We had grand plans to use the blog to assist with planning, as you can see by the first post we didn't get far.
We began with 8 possible travellers and starting searching for accommodation. Over the next few weeks our numbers dwindled and we landed with our final six.
Sandra, Lyn, Carolyn and I - (all friends from Echuca High School), Julie and Kathy (friends of Sandra's from College and teaching).
Sandra, Lyn and I are spending 13 nights in NYC, Kathy spending 12, then Carolyn and Julie join us for the second week.
Lyn and I also decided to spend an extra week - over time we determined that the extra days would be spent as follows - 2 nights each in Boston, Washington and LA.
