Now this was our BIGGEST day yet, up and out to get downtown for our Brooklyn Bridge DUMBO walking tour, we breakfasted and all 6 of us moved downtown (with slight train delays.)

Kathy and her Rastafarian dude. |
We had a plan for breakfast at Blue Spoon Coffee, unfortunately their coffee machine was not working, so we piffed them and went next door for Suzette's Crepes and coffee instead, I opted for Hot Choc, as I can't seem to get coffee right. We ate on the steps of the Department of Education, which was the meeting place for our tour. Our guide, Marcos indicated we were in the Civic District, having arrived by train at City Hall, complete with Justice and Fame statues around this area.

Marcos was rather painful, he used far too many words and was trying to be funny and failing. I was bored to snores in between the walking. The sights tho were worthwhile, just stopped listening to Marcos and things were all good.
 |
Nice dogs. |
Warm day today about 28 degrees, nice walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, lots of weddings - we saw three today.
 |
Some street performers on our way to Brooklyn Bridge. |

Had to watch for the many bikes, this lady had come to grief, fell off but NYPD came to her rescue. |

Wedding # 1 - cool lady, wearing white Nikes. |

I love these guards, I think they prevent people walking up the structure. Like rat guards. |

Once over the bridge we turned under it towards DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) - nice industrial area becoming trendy. Interesting view through Manhattan Bridge to Empire State Building. Stopped at a chocolate/ice-cream place - I had a cone with Raspberry Gelato and Vanilla Icecream - yummo.

As everywhere in NYC, lots of works going on around DUMBO too. Very manual and no evidence of OHS here. |

We finally got rid of Marcos down at the Brooklyn Pier, where we had good views of Manhattan again. Here we all went our various ways. Carolyn, Julie, Sandra opted for NY Watertaxi up river to MoMA, Kathy left us to meet her nephew in Brooklyn.

Lyn and I headed off via East River Ferry to Pier 11, hoping for helicopter ride. I rang the number in NY Pass, only to be told there was nothing till tomorrow. Lyn suggested we go and see anyway.

Bit Breezy on the ferry |
As soon as we stepped off the ferry we were accosted by Heli Tour ticket seller, this guy David was Venzuelan, had been in US for 8 months, anyway, it seems we could get a flight AND they would discount for the NY Pass too, so we opted for Middle option - Deluxe tour - a 20 minute flight.
David walked us to Pier 6, where they heli port was and we paid and were told 'on the quiet' tat we were upgraded to the Ultimate tour, 30 minutes, but don't tell the other passengers!

It was fabulous - photos - not so much, but the on board memory card is good.

The Gallery closed at 5.30, we met in foyer and then off to meet Julie at Eugene O'Neill Theatre for pre theatre dinner and drinks - we went to Lillie's - delicious and the decor was amazing, very old building with amazing stuff all around the stunning building. Nacho's for me, chilli hot, washed down with a 'Careless Whisper' cocktail. Quick change in restrooms for theatre.
