Well without wi fi I had started and finished a blog between LA and NYC. but have lost the bloody thing.
So here is the short revised version.
Friday saw me up and about after a sleep in on day 2 of leave. A number of last minute things to attend to.
1. Smuggle luggage into car so pets don't think I'm leaving
2. Check in with vet that it's ok to delay snugs pentosan arthritis injection for 6 days till I'm back. Check.
3. Buy a Richmomd scarf for the footy
4. Walk snug
5. Watch recorded TV
6. Get some drugs for beginning of a head cold grrrrrrr
6. Headed off at 1.00 ish.
Train strike in Melbourne today so no idea of traffic. All good.", so called at Bronwyn's for a cuppa. Then out into the TRAFFIC which was bumper to bumper all the way to Hoppers Crossing. Lyn was cleaning photos off her camera card. We
Did a bit of comparing cases. With all four pretty much under weight.
Then a final phone call to Sandra before heading off to catch the train at Tarneit (thanks Stu) to the footy at Etihad stadium. A nice burger for tea at Grill'd then met Roger and Peter to walk to the game. Bloody Richmond looked like making it three liosses from the three matches I've attended this year. The first half Highlight was Hugh Jackman tossing the coin and playing with the Auskick kids. Thankfully the Tiges pulled their finger out in second half and we got to sing the song.
Then a bit of a hike back to the car at Southbank before heading home. Some quick sorting out of cash for accommodation before finally making it to bed for 1.00am. A short sleep later BASSNNNGGG -I was woken from a deep slumber, up into first shower, a
Quick breaky then Rog drove us to the airport. Plenty of time to check in, do some duty free shopping - a camera etc for Lyn.
A chat with Carolyn on the way out to lounge then back for our last decent Aussie coffee.
Got boarded
and settled in. Late passenger held us up. So late away. Lyn and I were separated on this flight due to a stuff up with my seats. We both have extra leg room. It was a long haul. Watched a few movies - good and bad. Loved Inside Out
and sooked my way through Last Cab to Darwin. Persisted with Hot Pursuit and enjoyed the local New York views in 5 Flights Up.
Arriving late at LA meant an Express card and we had to do customs, collect
Luggage. Do security and check bags again. Late take off and a re-routing of the plane meant nearly an hour late to NYC. Some good views of Manhattan as we flew over
Took a while for luggage at Carousel, then a cab through slow Labour day long weekend traffic to arrive at the apartment to meet Nick about 8.00pm. The apartment looks good, got the tour and paid the cold hard cash.
Settled ourselves in before heading out for some essentials eg Milk, eye drops for tired eyes etc. walked home to drop off
Before heading around the corner to a local place - Nick's Restaurant Pizzeria. Had a lovely salad and Pizza.
Home for a shower and to await Sandra's arrival. We have been awake since 5.30am on Sat 5th and it is now 2.00pm on Sunday 6th. Will
Be ready for bed once Sandra is settled. Although Sandra will be worse as she left 2 hours before us and still isn't here yet!!! Could be a slow NY day tomorrow.
Sandra has just arrived tucking into our leftover pizza and it's now 12.30am here.
