18.9.15 - Day 14 Friday- Farewell NY, our rooftop, AMTRAK Acela, Boston

Unfortunately, heard nothing of Sandra and Kathy, they head home via Hong Kong today.

We were up at 6.40, finalised the packing, breaky etc, woke Carolyn and Julie about 8.20 to say goodbye.

Did a last minute trip up the elevator to see what was above us only to discover our very own rooftop, with views and some outdoor furniture etc. We should have come up on 9/11 to see if we could see the two lights signifying the towers – bugger! Snapped a few shots on the phone as camera was packed and ready.
Views from our rooftop - 232 E 97th Street, Upper East Side. 10029.

Looking down past balconies to our Courtyard.
Then into a cab at 9.10 to PENN (Pennsylvania) Station arrived between 9.30 and 10.00 to wait for our 11am AMTRAK Acela train to Boston. Time to purchase some more camera cards (purchased on special at Duane Reade pharmacy/drug store.

The route of our AMTRAK Acela Train this morning.
AMTRAK train
Train trip was great, we got to sit in business class carriage, though it was classed as coach for this trip. Very comfortable with great views of many little towns along the way. The outlook changed from the High rise residences of The Bronx to quaint little stand alone family homes, to seaside/waterside mansions with boats and jetties.

Passing train
We disembarked (well I did) at Boston Back Bay station, the doors closed behind me before Lyn could get off. As I walked down the train, one of the staff asked if I still had a party on board, he stopped the train and arranged for doors to open to let Lyn out. (we were running late and I think they were making up time along the way)

Our hotel was only a 400m walk from the station – Hotel 140. We were given the choice of larger room, or corner room with view, we opted for views.

Room is all good, out for a wander along Newbury Street, ate Chipotle and home to bed for a well earned earlier night. Boston looks good so far.
Arrived in Boston, Trinity Church.
